The “very young” Biswajith Hettiarachchi always believed that “performance is what matters and not promises” and that business is not only making profits but built on values that will withstand the test of time.
He took the challenge of building a sound enterprise by taking over the reigns from his father in 1985 who owned a small retail outlet dealing in cosmetics/hair products/fashion accessories etc., Biswajith was able to turn it into a high-pledged modern chain of retail outlets for fashion ware, hair care products and cosmetics.
In the beginning of the 90’s, through the experience gained from the management of these outlets, he identified the “opportunity” to incorporate a marketing company specialized in catering to the cosmetic and beauty care business in Sri Lanka.
Thus, with his charisma and energetic leadership, Hesperus Marketing (Pvt) Limited was established in 1995, and with a single Foreign Brand being imported and marketed in a limited region in the country using just one delivery van and two sales personnel.
Since then, Hesperus’s vision has evolved to greater heights and we have constantly strived to create new benchmarks. Today, our portfolio of foreign brands has increased up to ten, backed by a comprehensive team of more than 150 highly skilled employees while, we now conduct our operations from our very own fully-fledged, modern office spread over 50,000 sq.ft. We have now built a strong foundation and we intend to continue our dedication for excellence.
Beauticians employed by us conduct Workshops to educate the public of correct product usage and also assist in promoting new brands and products.
A modern fleet of vehicles covering 12,000 outlets spread island wide assures that we pay immediate attention to customer needs and wants, and the products we represent are taken to every nook and corner in the island.
Most of the brands we currently represent were introduced to Sri Lanka for the very first time by us. However, with our expertise, today they have become house-hold names and have captured the attention and loyalty of millions of consumers all over the island.
We are highly selective in offering only the best quality products to the Sri Lankan market which are real value for money. That way we have established a long-term relationship with our Principals and have won their total confidence in our marketing operation.
With eyes set firmly on the next decade, Hesperus plans to produce its own brands with the investment on a manufacturing facility, and further has plans of introducing a complete Beauty Training Academy to facilitate the talented young Sri Lankans who are looking to embark on a Professional Beautician career path.
